New Interactive District Nutrition Website

We all know that childhood obesity is at epidemic proportions. And we all know that establishing good nutrition and wellness behaviors in children is important. No one knows this better than SCSD #1 Food Services Manager Gail Wilkerson. Yesterday, Gail and her staff rolled out a new interactive website for our students and families. Saying that I was amazed at the information you could gather at one website might be an understatement. The website has school menus, DOE Meal applications, and the serving times for our cafeterias. It also has nutrition and fitness information, the District Wellness Policy, and interactive games to help kids gain new fitness and nutrition knowledge. You can also check your student’s lunch balance through the PowerSchool Internet Viewer.

One of our ongoing goals at SCSD #1 is to improve our communication. This website is a quantum leap forward for our students and parents interested in nutrition and fitness. Way to go Gail and the food services staff!

About Dirty Side Down

What do you do when you have a job makes you want to pound sand most days? You vent to anyone who will listen. If your job is the kind of job that doesn't really allow for that? I guess you hop on your motorcycle and write a blog.
